Here are ways we can support you
Feeding your baby is not always easy!
Reasons you may seek support:
difficulty latching at the breast/bottle
decreased endurance + strength required to feed
body tension
tongue + lip ties
slow weight gain
falling asleep at the breast
milk supply
pumping (to increase supply, return to work, exclusive pumping, or flange fitting)
We utilize a comprehensive and whole-body approach to address mother/infant concerns and evaluate multiple factors that can impact breastfeeding and/or bottle feeding.
The evaluation includes an assessment of oral motor tissues, muscular tone, suck/swallow/breathe synchrony, sucking strength/coordination, gross motor skills, sensory processing, positioning, maternal health, and more.
Our services are family-centered, holistic, and individualized for each client. Together we create a plan to help you confidently reach your feeding goals. A provided home exercise program will be sure to encompass function, play, and bonding!
In-home in-depth evaluation with therapeutic goal setting.
Bodywork is a general term used for any hands-on modality that addresses the skin, fascia, muscle, and/or bone.
As occupational therapists, bodywork is a manual therapy tool we use to support the participation in functional activities.
We are trained in Therapeutic Massage, including neuromuscular and connective tissue techniques.
Specialty coursework:
Bodywork for Better Breastfeeding:
-A comprehensive therapeutic massage course for the breastfeeding body
-Infant Bodywork: Hands-on Modalities to Improve Feeding Readiness and Outcomes
Bodywork is a wonderful tool to facilitate the healing process postpartum, but is also used to address specific muscle tension or pain that is common during postpartum.
We spend a lot of time holding, caring for, and feeding our baby which can cause muscle tension/pain in the shoulders, upper back, chest, and neck. Therapeutic massage techniques are used to release the tension and allow the body to come into better alignment.
Our goal is to facilitate the participation in functional daily activities of the mother/infant dyad.
